Rayon Clothing Manufacturer in Bali
Rayon is one of the most versatile fabrics around, yet it remains somewhat of a mystery. That’s partly because of its remarkable ability to shape-shift—not just literally, but also in terms of imitating other fabrics.
Rayon has been known to take on the properties of silk, cotton, wool, and others, and can be used in nearly any type of clothing. This can make it challenging to pin down exactly what it is, how to launder it, and what type of weather it’s best suited for.
Rayon, artificial textile material composed of regenerated and purified cellulose derived from plant sources. Developed in the late 19th century as a substitute for silk, rayon was the first man-made fibre.

What and How is Rayon Made?
Rayon is made from cellulose obtained from wood pulp–usually from pine, spruce, or hemlock trees—and cotton linters, which are residue fibres clinging to cotton seed after the ginning process.
Viscose rayon is the most common and versatile. It can be blended with man-made or natural fibres and made into fabrics of varying weight and texture. It is also an absorbent, cost-effective and comfortable fabric to wear.
High-wet-modulus rayon is a stronger fibre than the regular version. It is similar to cotton and easy to care for. Fabrics containing modulus rayon can be machine-washed whereas those made of regular rayon need to be dry-cleaned. Whether it is wood pulp or cotton linters, the basic raw material for making rayon must be processed in order to extract and purify the cellulose. The resulting sheets of white, purified cellulose are then treated to form regenerated cellulose filaments. These filaments are then spun into yarns and eventually made into the desired fabric.

The Benefits of Using Rayon for Your Clothing Brand
As an expert clothing manufacturer, we highly recommend rayon for a wide variety of garment styles. Here is why this fabric remains a permanent staple in our production workshop:
- Exceptional Breathability: Because it is crafted from natural plant fibers, rayon allows air to circulate freely, keeping the wearer cool. It is highly absorbent—even more so than standard cotton—which makes it perfect for tropical climates, beachwear, and active lifestyles.
- Incredible Drape and Flow: Rayon falls beautifully over the natural lines of the body. It does not stay stiff or rigid, meaning it is the ideal material for flowy maxi dresses, wide-leg trousers, loose blouses, and elegant wrap skirts.
- Vibrant Dyeing and Printing: One of the most significant advantages of rayon is how effectively it holds color. The fibers absorb dyes deeply, resulting in rich, vibrant, and long-lasting colors that do not fade easily after washing. Whether your collection features bold, intricate patterns or soft, subtle pastels, rayon delivers brilliant visual results.
- Endless Versatility: Rayon can be woven or knit to mimic the texture and feel of silk, wool, cotton, or linen. At Megaya Bali, we work with various specialized rayon types, including Rayon Viscose, Rayon Linen blends, Rayon Spandex, and Fujiette, giving you vast creative possibilities for your designs.
Megaya Bali works with several variations of rayon and rayon-family fabrics, allowing for different textures, weights, and drapes depending on the garment being produced.
Here are the specific kinds of rayon fabrics they offer:
- Standard Rayon: The classic, highly breathable, and flowy material they use extensively for summer dresses, blouses, skirts, and caftans.
- Rayon Linen: A popular blend that combines the soft, fluid drape of rayon with the durability, structure, and textured finish of linen.
- Viscose (A type of Rayon): Megaya works with specific viscose variations, including Viscose Satin Spandex(which adds a slight stretch and a silky, glossy finish) and Viscose Crepe (which offers a beautiful, slightly crinkled or pebbled texture).
- Fujiette: A lightweight, extremely soft spun rayon fabric that is frequently used for their breezier, flowy garments like caftans and resort wear.
- Bamboo: While often categorized on its own, bamboo fabric is technically a form of rayon/viscose made from bamboo pulp. Megaya offers blends like Bamboo Cotton and Bamboo Cotton Baby Terry.
Here is how we compare Rayon with the other fabric:
| Fabric | Breathability | Durability | Drape & Feel | Best For |
| Rayon | High | Moderate | Excellent, flowing, and soft | Resort wear, summer dresses, flowy blouses |
| Cotton | High | High | Structured and soft | Everyday basics, t-shirts, loungewear |
| Linen | Very High | Very High | Crisp, stiff, and textured | Summer trousers, lightweight suits, breathable shirts |
| Polyester | Low | Very High | Varies (often holds rigid shape) | Sportswear, outerwear, budget fashion |
| Silk | Moderate | Low | Luxurious, liquid, and smooth | High-end evening wear, lingerie, scarves |
