What does a beach party look like through the eyes of a designer? For Megaya Bali, it begins with texture, movement, and the freedom to dress with personality. Our creative direction for Bali Fashion Network 2027 brings those ideas together in six looks that explore the meeting point between beachwear, resort dressing, and occasion wear.
The collection follows our Party at the Beach theme, with a visual language built around ivory tones, warm browns, open lattice patterns, long fringe, and playful accessories. Each look has its own character, from an embellished bikini-inspired outfit to a simple dress finished with a dramatic fringe hem.
In this preview, we are sharing the six design illustrations behind that direction. They show how we are thinking about silhouette, styling, and the details that connect the collection. The illustrations communicate the concept; material choices, construction details, and final styling can develop as the designs move into finished garments.
Here is a closer look at what we bring to Bali Fashion Network 2027, one outfit at a time.
The Idea Behind the Collection
A beach party gives us an interesting design setting because it combines two different moods. There is the ease of being close to the coast, where clothing can feel relaxed and open. There is also the pleasure of dressing for a celebration, when a distinctive detail can make an outfit feel special.
Our collection explores how those moods can work together. A bikini-inspired shape becomes more expressive through overlapping circular details. A simple black base changes character beneath an ivory lattice layer. An otherwise understated dress gains energy through long fringe.
We imagine these looks within the atmosphere of a coastal gathering: the light softening, people arriving, and an afternoon gradually becoming an evening. That scene gives the designs a shared context without requiring every outfit to look the same.
The result is a collection with several ways into the theme. Some looks are more revealing and graphic. Others are softer, more covered, or more romantic. Together, they create a wardrobe of different personalities for the same celebration.
A Palette That Lets Texture Lead
The illustrations share a restrained colour direction, with ivory, cream, sand, and brown appearing throughout. Black adds definition, while a mustard-toned bag and a burgundy ruffle introduce more concentrated accents.
Keeping much of the palette close allows the surface details to become more visible. You notice the spacing of a lattice pattern, the layers of a skirt, or the rhythm of circular embellishments. Colour supports those details without overwhelming them.
There is also a connection between the outfits and their accessories. Pale circular forms appear in both clothing and jewellery. Brown tones link a dress with its accompanying styling. A dark bag creates contrast against a light outfit.
These relationships help the collection feel considered as a whole. Each look can stand on its own, while small repetitions make it recognisable as part of the Megaya Bali story.
Look 001 — Pearls of the Tide
Look 001 introduces one of the clearest expressions of Party at the Beach. The illustration pairs an ivory bikini-style top, covered in overlapping circular forms, with a matching bottom and a long fringe overlay. Fine ties cross the waist, drawing a delicate line between the upper and lower parts of the outfit.
The circular details give the top a layered surface. They suggest a coastal reference through their shell-like appearance, although the illustration alone does not establish the material. Similar shapes return in the earrings and the decorative lower section of the mustard-coloured drawstring bag.
The fringe brings a different quality to the look. Its long vertical lines extend towards the ankles, creating the outline of a full-length skirt while leaving the legs visible between the strands. Scattered round details interrupt those lines and connect the lower half with the top.
What makes this outfit interesting is its balance of coverage and openness. The upper body has concentrated texture, while the lower half has length without the visual weight of a solid skirt. Black platform sandals anchor the pale silhouette.
Within the collection, this look establishes several recurring elements: circular decoration, exposed space, warm accents, and a strong interest in movement.
Look 002 — Moonlit Reverie
Look 002 takes a more graphic approach. An ivory lattice dress sits over a black base, creating a clear contrast between the open pattern and the darker shape beneath it. The neckline stays close to the body, while the lattice continues over the torso and hips before extending into long fringe.
The black underlayer makes the pale pattern easy to read. Across the upper body, the crossing lines become the main feature. Further down, the same open structure reveals more of the legs, changing the relationship between the pattern and the body.
Long strands at the hem add a softer ending to the geometric design. Matching fringe accessories at the hands repeat that vertical movement and give the outfit a distinctive styling identity. The accessories also bring attention to gestures, something that becomes particularly expressive in a runway setting.
For us, this look explores how layering can transform a familiar base. The dark foundation provides a clean silhouette, while the open outer layer supplies texture, pattern, and length. It is a useful example of how two simple visual ideas can create a much stronger impression together.
The outfit keeps the beach-party connection through its openness, while the contrast and styling give it an evening character.
Look 003 — The Golden Shore
Look 003 introduces a warmer mood through a brown dress with a fitted upper section, narrow straps, and geometric surface patterns. The lower part transitions into long fringe, with small pale accents placed near the ends of selected strands.
Compared with the high contrast of Look 002, this outfit feels more tonal. The brown shades allow the geometric pattern to sit within the garment rather than appearing as a separate layer against a dark base. Horizontal bands divide the silhouette and give the eye a series of reference points.
The accessories strengthen its resort direction. A wide-brimmed hat frames the face, while statement earrings and stacked bracelets add detail without introducing a competing colour story. A woven-looking clutch continues the interest in surface texture.
The dress also creates a conversation between structure and movement. Its upper section has a defined outline, while the fringe below suggests a looser rhythm. This difference keeps the silhouette from feeling uniform from shoulder to hem.
For Party at the Beach, Look 003 offers a more grounded expression of the theme. It brings the warmth of sand and sun into the collection through colour, then uses accessories and proportion to build a complete occasion-ready look.
Look 004 — Ivory Daydream
Look 004 changes the pace with a shorter silhouette and a softer use of volume. The illustration combines an ivory cropped halter-style top with a tiered mini skirt. A large bow at the neckline becomes the upper focal point, balanced by another bow at the side of the waist.
The two bows connect the separates, but they serve different purposes visually. At the neck, the bow frames the face and emphasises the height of the top. At the hip, it draws attention to the wrapped effect of the waistband and leads into the skirt’s layered shape.
The ruffled tiers introduce fullness around the lower body. Their curved edges contrast with the straight vertical fringe seen in the earlier looks. This gives the collection another way to suggest movement, using layers and soft outlines instead of long strands.
A small pale bag brings the fringe motif back into the styling. Its rounded decorative surface also recalls the circular details in Look 001, helping this more romantic outfit remain connected to the wider collection.
We see Look 004 as a playful expression of coastal occasion wear. It retains the light palette and exposed midriff of the theme while exploring a more dressed-up combination of bows, texture, and coordinated separates.
Look 005 — A Touch of Rouge
Look 005 brings the collection’s strongest accent colour into focus. A deep burgundy ruffle runs down one side of a light cropped top, creating an asymmetric statement against the otherwise pale outfit.
The top is illustrated with full sleeves and a gathered central fastening or ring detail. A black bikini-style layer is visible underneath, linking it to the beachwear direction established earlier. Below, an ankle-length open lattice skirt continues the interplay between coverage and transparency.
Several contrasts give this outfit its character. The ruffle has a dense, layered appearance beside the openness of the skirt. The pale clothing sits against dark underlayers and a brown fringed bag. Volume at the sleeve and shoulder meets a longer, straighter lower silhouette.
The bag is an active part of the composition. Its dark textured body and very long fringe provide weight on the opposite side from the burgundy detail, creating balance without perfect symmetry.
Within the six-look story, this is a more expressive styling proposition. It shows how a single accent can change the mood of a neutral outfit, giving the beach-party concept a richer evening direction while preserving the open textures that connect the collection.
Look 006 — Petals in the Breeze
Look 006 brings the focus back to a simpler foundation. The illustration shows an ivory dress with narrow straps, a gently shaped body, and a line of small circular details around the neckline. The main statement appears at the hem, where long sand-coloured fringe extends below the solid part of the dress.
This placement gives the outfit a clear visual hierarchy. The eye first sees the clean dress shape, then follows it towards the fringe. Small round details above the strands provide a transition between the plain surface and the more animated lower section.
The styling adds another mood through a pale basket filled with flowers. Alongside the statement earrings, it gives the look a garden-party quality that still belongs within the broader coastal celebration. The flowers introduce a fresh shape rather than another repeated garment detail.
We like the way this design creates interest through editing. It does not need the all-over texture of Look 002 or the layered accent of Look 005. Its character comes from the relationship between a calm upper silhouette and a hem imagined to move with each step.
As part of the collection, Look 006 offers a softer expression of celebration while bringing the circular and fringe motifs together once more.
What Connects the Six Looks
Seen together, the illustrations reveal a collection built through repetition and variation. Fringe returns at different lengths and in different places. Circular forms appear as surface decoration, trim, and accessories. Open patterns move from a dress layer to a long skirt.
Those repetitions make the designs feel related, but the proportions keep them distinct. A bikini-inspired outfit, a lattice dress, a brown fringed silhouette, a bow-trimmed set, an asymmetric layered look, and a clean ivory dress each offer a different starting point.
Accessories are part of that connection too. Bags, earrings, bracelets, and a hat help explain the intended mood of each outfit. They allow the same collection to move between playful beachwear, relaxed resort styling, and more expressive party dressing.
Our approach is to give each look a reason to exist within the group. A collection becomes more engaging when it offers change while maintaining a recognisable point of view.
From Design Illustration to Wearable Garment
These illustrations are a starting point for the practical questions that follow. Open structures need careful consideration of coverage and support. Fringe needs attention to length, attachment, and how it behaves when the wearer walks. Decorative details need to suit the part of the garment where they are placed.
Sampling is where these decisions can be explored. A design may need adjustments after its proportions are seen on the body. A trim may feel heavier than expected, or a tie may need a different position. The purpose is to preserve the character of the idea while developing a garment that works in use.
This relationship between creativity and making is familiar to Megaya Bali. Our garment development process connects consultation, patterns, sampling, amendments, production, and quality checks. Bringing our own design direction into focus helps express the same attention from another perspective.
For this collection, the illustrations give us a shared visual reference. They show what needs to remain recognisable as the designs develop: the silhouettes, the contrast of open and solid areas, and the details that give each look its identity.
